Cosmeticherry is a magazine about beauty and well-being. It looks at what skincare actually does, from the face serum to the anti-wrinkle cream, explains how to spot and treat blackheads, and takes hair seriously, whether that means switching to a solid shampoo, calming an itchy scalp or using a dry oil without weighing the lengths down. Make-up has its place too, from mascara looks to sparkling holiday faces, alongside the small details of daily care such as ridged nails, hard skin on the feet or a facial massage. Every article starts from a real question.

Read the label before you believe the promise

A serum, a cream or a mask should be judged first by its list of ingredients. A face serum delivers concentrated actives in a light texture, but it does not replace a moisturiser that protects the skin barrier, nor sun protection in the morning. An anti-wrinkle cream works through what it contains and through regular use far more than through the look of its jar. Hair follows the same logic: a dry oil applied sparingly to the ends does more good than a pile of products that coat the fibre, and a solid shampoo only pays off once you have found the right way to lather and rinse it. Before buying anything, it is worth naming the real need, whether dry patches, blackheads around the nose or a scalp that keeps itching, then testing one product at a time for several weeks. It is the only honest way to find out what works.

The same caution applies to the body. Ridges on the nails, thick skin on the heels or an itch that will not settle are worth observing calmly before reaching for a remedy, and a light therapy mask is a regular habit rather than a quick fix. The articles give you pointers to understand, never a substitute for the advice of a dermatologist or a pharmacist.

Portrait of Bertrand Michaud

Who writes here?

My name is Bertrand Michaud. I am the editor-in-chief of this magazine and I live in Poitiers. I am interested in what we put on our skin and hair, with a clear preference for plain explanations over promises.

I write about face and body care by always starting from the formula: what an ingredient does, what it does not do, and for which skin type. I also follow hair closely, from solid shampoos to dry oils and scalp problems, as well as make-up for every season and those everyday subjects people rarely talk about, such as ridged nails or calluses on the feet.
